Impala is located at 404 East 76th Street between First and York Avenue in the Upper East Side. This high-rise full service condo has 181 apartments. It was built in 2000 by Architect Michael Graves & Associates and Developer RFR/Davis. It has serene courtyard sculptured garden landscaped with river birch trees and a flowing stream. Impala windows are large and multi-paned and the facade is divided into three-story segments with slightly protruding band courses and the lower two floors of which have the windows surrounded by large white reveals. Impala occupies the middle of the block on the avenue between 75th and 76th Streets and its side street entrance, about 100 feet from the avenue, has a different facade and is about 7 stories tall as the tower rises only over the avenue frontage. Impala has open pass-thru kitchens and baths with separate stall shower & tub. The apartments also feature hardwood floors, over-sized windows, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. Upper East Side is characterized by luxurious homes and a high standard of living. This area gained its reputation as one of the most affluent neighborhoods in NYC in the mid-1800s, when the country’s wealthiest, including the Vanderbilts, Carnegies, Rockefellers and Roosevelts, moved into the neighborhood. Stylish mansions and townhouses were erected along Fifth Avenue, eventually being replaced by apartments with some of the highest pricing per square foot in the United States. |
